Letter from the President: Robert
G. Read
In my last letter I spoke to you
about our focus upon the athletic injury. I noted that although your
primary care physician conducts the initial evaluation, it is your decision,
and right, to choose where you go to receive therapy services.
In follow-up, I wish to continue
to educate you about the importance of choosing a therapy center and what
to look for when that choice confronts you.
Physical Therapy clinics are not
alike. To be sure you receive the best care, I have provided a brief
checklist below, for your convenience. I hope it helps.
When choosing a therapy provider,
be sure your choice of clinic can meet the following criteria:
-
Licensed & experienced therapy professionals
that oversee and provide your treatment.
-
Licensed therapy professionals present
and available within the clinic, during your treatment.
-
The clinic should hold the highest certification
award from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS, formerly
HCFA).
-
The clinic should be able to schedule
your initial therapy appointment within 1-3 days of your doctor’s appointment.
-
The clinic must provide evaluation and
treatment services that focus upon restoring your function. (This will
differ from person to person, some may want to be able to resume their
daily activities, and others may want to return to the soccer field.)
This is a short but important checklist.
By asking these simple questions you could knock weeks and even months
off of your recovery.
At TheraMatrix, Inc., we are dedicated
to providing our patients the highest quality, appropriate, expedient,
and effective care available. We are happy to be your resource and
welcome any questions you may have.
Remember that you can receive treatment
at any therapy facility within your insurance plan.
Thanks for checking in with us.
Next month we’ll talk about the role of the physician and the relationship
between the physician and the therapy clinic.
All the best,
Bob Read
